Temperature measurement is one of the most difficult operations in mixing, and there have been no particular advances here for many years. Two types of thermocouples have and are still being, used. The first and most widely used, utilizes a strong thermocouple fitted with a thermocouple junction, and extending into the mixture chamber at some point. The second one is the infrared temperature measurement system fitted to the mixer body to “see” into the mixing chamber.

The number of temperature control zones is usually recommended by the mixer manufacturers, with three being quite common, one each for rotors, mixing chambers sides and drop door.

Many tire manufacturers rely on YAMARI’s thermocouples and RTD’s to measure temperature in their process applications. YAMARI sensors are being widely used in the Banbury mixers and Tire curing presses. We design these sensors according to the mixer configurations used by the companies that manufacture Banbury mixers and Tire curing presses.
